Procedure for receiving an ISBN from the IFIP Secretariat
Editors of proceedings from IFIP Events, which are properly recorded in the IFIP database with an allocated IFIP Event number, may apply for an ISBN to the IFIP Secretariat.
The IFIP Secretariat can process the application when the following conditions are met:
- The conference proceedings are not intended for publication by SSBM or by another international publisher and are for on-site conference distribution only.
- The Letter of Request is approved and signed by the respective IFIP TC Chair and gives the IFIP Event number, the conference details, the Title of the publication, the expected date of publication, the names of the editor/s, expected volume and number of contributions and a brief summary of the contents.
Following the allocation of an ISBN, two copies of the proceedings should be sent directly to the IFIP Secretariat for the IFIP Library, accompanied by a letter containing concrete instructions where further copies can be obtained (or purchased) by interested parties.
If the IFIP conference takes place in Austria and the proceedings are printed in Austria the Editors, on behalf of IFIP, are obliged to additionally send 4 free copies to the National Library of Austria together with the information concerning the conference and book details and other relevant information.
